Composer, guitarist, and keyboardist Rob Lord talks about his “cosmic country” score for the Amazon Prime hit ‘Troop Zero.’ Along the way they discuss their favorite scores of 2019, David Bowie, and floating through the jazz world of New Orleans.
This interview was a long time coming, and I’m particularly glad it’s finally available. Rob and I first met (virtually) back in early 2020 spent a few months trying to schedule an interview thereafter. We eventually recorded this in September 2020 and it took me another seven months to get it into the world!
Troop Zero is both a lovely score and a lovely film. Here’s a snippet of what I wrote about it back in May 2020: “Lord combines elements of folk, bluegrass, and country with synth to create “cosmic country,” a spacey vibe that remains at home in its rural Georgia setting. Alongside the always-welcome Bowie tracks that appear in the film, Lord’s score is delightfully creative and infectiously fun.”
Find out more about Rob on his website. Troop Zero is currently available on Amazon Prime and Rob’s score is available on all major streaming platforms. It’s released through Lakeshore Records.
