Film composer and singer-songwriter Steph Copeland joins the show to talk about, among other things: her recent scores for Vicious Fun, The Retreat, and The Oak Room, as well as her trend of scoring for horror and balancing her dual identities of a film composer and a solo artist.
Find out more about Steph on her website. Vicious Fun is currently available on Shudder while the others are available on VOD. Certain of Steph’s scores, as well as her solo back catalog, are available on all major streaming platforms or on Bandcamp.
Steph started out as an indie/electro-pop musician based in the Windsor-Detroit region. After numerous tours and albums, Steph scored her first film Antisocial, directed by Cody Calahan and produced by Black Fawn Films. The film saw Black Fawn ink an 8-picture deal and the company brought Steph along to compose 7 of those 8 films, kickstarting her film scoring career!

You can also check out Steph’s solo track “Gaslight,” which she co-wrote with violinist Brigit O’Regan. It’s a dark indie pop track with some infectious minimalism and a abstract, interpretive music video shot on the streets of Toronto.
